The L-House is a Net Zero Energy located in Philomath, Oregon. This house is located on a heavily wooded site with views and privacy along the North-East quadrant of the side. The house has been designed to take advantage of these views with the main living areas pushed towards this side of the house. As you enter the house, the ceiling is kept low and then expands into a tall cathedral ceiling space at the kitchen, dining room, and living room. The stone fireplace on the east wall is a main point of focus in this space. The master bedroom also has a cathedral ceiling, however this one is curved to enhance this special space.
We designed this house using Passive House design principles to create a comfortable, quiet, and energy efficient home for our clients. With 2″ of exterior Roxul Comfortboard 110 mineral wool insulation, advanced framed 2×6 walls filled with dense-pack fiberglass insulation, and triple-paned windows, this house stays at an even temperature throughout the day and is very quiet inside.
