Modern style mountain house designed to meet low energy standards (near Passive House levels) in partnership with Quantum Architects. The site for this house is on a hill with commanding views of Elk Valley and Beech Mountain. The house was designed to take advantage of this amazing view with the large windows on the front south facing facade. In order to prevent overheating, we designed a large roof overhang to shade the highest windows with additional awnings providing shading to the lower windows. On either side of the main tower there are two opposing curved roofs covering the bedroom wing on the left and the kitchen on the right. These are designed to compliment each other and direct your eye towards the grand central entrance.
